New Porsche 718 GTS is ready to grace the market with more power and more exquisite design. Both variants, Cayman and convertible Boxster, are dedicated for those who want a powerful sports car that also suitable for everyday use.
What’s New with the Engine?
If you are craving for some actions from 6-cylinder engine, unfortunately you are going to be disappointed. 6-cylinder engine is not on the menu anymore and 718 GTS now comes with 4-cylinder. But even with a 4-cylinder engine, this model will be able to deliver 360 bhp, which is more powerful compared to the S series and even the 6-cylinder GTS. The engine will be paired to a 7-speed PDK or a manual transmission.
The car can reach 62 mph from a standstill in only 4.3 seconds when the engine is mated to PDK transmission and 4.6 seconds with manual transmission. Meanwhile, the top speed is 180 mph. Those numbers might not be powerful enough for you, but Porsche cannot go higher than that because 718 GTS is not supposed to have more power or speed than 911.
How About the Cosmetic Change?
The engine is pretty nice, but the real improvement is actually reserved for the design. 718 GTS will rock the market with its elegant blacked out trim. Let’s expect black trims all over the car along with satin black wheels. It is also rumored that the cabin will be dominated with Alcantara. It seems like Porsche prefers to give 718 GTS a more traditional cabin with all the whistles and blows of the old Porsche models instead of something simpler and modern like Panamera or Cayenne, hence the Alcantara.
According to reports, both variants of Porsche 718 GTS will arrive in the US market around March 2018. Cayman will bring a price tag of around $79,800 while the convertible Boxster will be priced around $81,900. (/penuliscontent)
