When you had rushed buying the Elise Cup 250 or Elise Sport 220, consider yourself out of luck because it means that you are going to miss the special edition Elise Cup 260 from Lotus. Well, unless you are completely loaded and you don’t mind spending extra to buy another Cup 260. Well, Lotus had tried to compete against Porsche several years ago with their ambitious plan. It wasn’t a plan against the Porsche only because Lotus was trying to take over the sport luxurious market by competing against Aston Martin and Ferrari. And considering that Lotus is still producing one of their finest rides, it means that they are still up and running.
In fact, Lotus has quite an ambitious plan to keep themselves busy and productive. After they had launched the previous Cup 250 and Sport 220, they are launching the new Cup 260 and be glad that it is totally different from Elise Cup 250, or Sport 220, or Elise Sprint. The greatest thing about this new Elise Cup 260 is the fact that it is a limited edition with limited numbers. Lotus plans on releasing only 30 units, making it rare and expensive, for sure. This vehicle is designed and produced especially to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the company – dated back to the time Colin Chapman, the founder, built the first car.
This Cup 260 is the ultimate creation from Lotus; that’s why it comes with all the greatest combinations of previous Lotus’ creations, such as aerodynamic modification, lighter construction, and also faster performance. The result of better and faster performance is probably due to the signature wing styles which are included in Evora GT430 or Exige Cup 380. The fiberglass gold paint is basically optional because you are free to choose any color that you want. But then again, why would you choose other colors if gold can be your winning hue?
What makes this Elise lighter that affects the speed, anyway? Thanks to the carbon fiber, new giant wing, improved splitter, and front wheel arch, Lotus is able to reduce weight and improve aerodynamic. The new Elise has 44% improvement with 151 mpg for the top speed. With the combination of four cylinder engine with 1.8 liter unit, lightweight construction, and 250 bhp of power, this Cup 260 is expected to deliver great outcome. After all, it is able to reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds so it is quite impressive. But with a tag price of £59,500, it is not really a great bargain. Not many people would be willing to spend that much money for a sporty ride, no matter how stylish it is.
Some people say that even with the basic Lotus, you should be having enough. It still gives you a good boost of confidence without spending money. Despite the new cars being lighter and lighter, but none of them is able to match the original Elise, anyway.
